Shannonvale held a Jasper Coleman Cup score between Andrew O’Callaghan and David Shannon, playing for a stake of €3,750 a-side. This was a tit-for-tat battle from trap to line with the lead changing on several occasions, there was nothing between after three each past McSweeney’s with O’Callaghan fore bowl by thirty meters, two more out the quarry bend and Shannon had the lead by a foot. Three shots more and they were out Desmond’s Cross with O’Callaghan fore bowl by ten meters. They could not be separated down past Kingston’s wall and on for Tobin’s, O’Callaghan went peeping sight for Campbell’s and Shannon’s bowl turned in right at Haye’s. Shannon missed full sight for the last straight and O’Callaghan with the aid of a rub went sight. Shannon made a bad blunder with his next too tight right and fell a bowl down, O’Callaghan beat the line in two more.
