Wilmot holds off Flood in Ballygurteen senior clash

Ballygurteen held an O’Connell/Dullea senior score between Brian Wilmot and Patrick Flood, playing for a stake of €4,050 a-side. Wilmot had poor sight at the first bend after three shots and Flood was out fully, four more past the women’s lane and Flood held a fifty meter advantage. Wilmot got an incredible bowl to O’Mahony’s Avenue but Flood followed and beat it to hold a marginal lead. Back of the Coffee Dock they were dead level, Wilmot got a beautiful rub off the kerbing that took him halfway to O’Donovan’s bend and Flood caught the back of the kerbing and missed up again. Wilmot went up and around and raised a bowl of odds. Wilmot held this odds past John Burkes and on past the junior finish, Flood got a good bowl out the last bend that knocked the bowl of odds briefly. Wilmot missed the finish line and Flood missed the tip.
